Aotearoa: Land of the Long White Cloud

New Zealand is located in the southern hemisphere. It spans 1600 km from north to south and is approximately 2250km east of Australia. It is made up of the North Island, the South Island, Stewart Island and various small islands.

New Zealand has a population of approximately4 million people with the official languages being English and Maori.

There are many outstanding tramping and mountain climbing areas throughout the country, with a vast range of conditions.

Weather in New Zealand's mountains can deteriorate quickly, so please take wet weather gear and be prepared for ``four seasons in one day''!
